ISSUE

A global leading company had a legacy issue of not having obtained all required approvals before launching its operation in China. With tightening regulatory supervision from the government, the company faced with increasing compliance risk. The global executive team requested the China team to obtain the required approvals within a fixed deadline, or it would close the China operation and withdraw from China. The unique challenge of this issue was that the government did not have an established process for granting such approval.
